Hot Honey Chicken Recipe Review

The boys have been on a big Hungry Howie’s hot honey pepperoni pizza kick lately, so when I saw this hot honey chicken recipe, I figured it was worth a shot. Same flavor lane. Different delivery. That usually goes over well here.

It’s an easy recipe overall, but it does require the classic three-plate setup for breading. Flour. Eggs. Cornflakes. My counters looked overwhelming for a bit, but that’s just part of the deal. I also went lighter on the hot sauce the first time because Garrett can be sensitive to spice. Everyone said they’d be fine with more, so next time I won’t hold back.

I chose the deep fry option because nothing beats that kind of crunch. Watching the chicken turn golden was when I knew this was going to be good. The sauce came together fast, and even with the spice dialed back a little, it still had that sweet heat thing going on that makes you want another bite.

When we finally sat down to eat, it was obvious right away. You hear the crunch. Plates clear fast. No one’s picking at anything. Four thumbs up. Immediate request to add it to the family cookbook. And a suggestion to try it as a sandwich on pretzel buns next time, which actually sounds incredible.

Making it into the family cookbook means it’ll show up again. It’s not a rush-out-the-door dinner, but if you’ve got about an hour and want something that feels a little extra without being complicated, this one’s a keeper. Definitely staying in rotation.
